We are very lucky at The Bush House to live in a beautiful part of the country. We are keen to do what we can to preserve that beauty by doing what we can to minimise our impact on the environment, whilst maintaining high levels of luxury and comfort for our guests.
• Recycling household products (bottles, cans, paper, cardboard, linens, etc).
• Asking you to pre-order your breakfast to minimize cooking energy & waste.
• Fitting low energy light bulbs.
• Having an environmental policy for towels & bed linen. These are changed every 7 days (and with each new set of guests obviously!)
• Buying where possible organic, free range & locally sourced food.
• Installing double glazing and thick loft insulation.
• Using email as much as possible to save paper wastage.
• Using water butts.
• Using wood on fires.
• Covering flower beds with bark.
• Suitable food waste is fed to the chickens, or composted. Our own hens produce most of the eggs used here.
• Soap and shower gel is provided in refillable containers.
• Parts of our garden have been left in its “wild” state to encourage birds and other animals.
• Reduced flush toilets to save water.
• Minimising the need for cleaning agents by the use of microporous cloths.
We welcome suggestions on how our green policy could be improved, and energy or resource consumption reduced.
