Welcome to The Bush House Bed and Breakfast, West Sussex

If you're looking for a rural retreat - somewhere you can relax and unwind following a day out exploring the Surrey/Sussex countryside, then The Bush House is the B&B for you.

Following a warm welcome, relax after your journey with a cup of tea & a slice of homemade cake and plan your stay using our guidebooks and maps.

From our independent guest annexe, with large comfortable beds you can lie in and enjoy the peace before getting up to take your time over a leisurely West Sussex cooked breakfast, made with the best of local produce.

The Bush House is ideally located to visit all of the market towns,  and the beautiful West Sussex countryside.  Being on the county border, gives the opportunity to explore Surrey & Hampshire.  There is a Farmers Market somewhere in West Sussex every week, providing the perfect chance to sample our local produce and to explore the local towns and villages.

This is wonderful walking and cycling country. There are several beautiful walks from the house, and we have guidebooks and maps that you're welcome to borrow.  Take a wander along the local public footpaths and you could see dairy cows, llama, rhea, highland cattle, pigs or sheep in the fields and woodland surrounding our house.

Come and discover why this part of West Sussex has been described as one of the most beautiful regions in Britain... only one hours drive of London, yet with some of the clearest night skies in the country - though be careful, like us, you may end up not being able to leave!

We look forward to welcoming you soon, for what we hope will be the first of many visits.

Elaine & Paul Allerton

 History of The Bush House

There was a public house, known as The Bush Inn, on this site since 1875.

In 1989, the property became the renowned vegetarian restaurant, "Clements".  When the restaurant owners retired, they converted the property to the family home, now enjoyed by the Allerton family.

... but hospitality runs thick and strong through the bones (or should that be bricks?) of this building, hence our bed and breakfast.
